Jeffrey S. Given is the OSTI Assistant Director for Applications Development and Operations, emphasizing technical project management strategies for disseminating and securing DOE's 75-year collection of research and development (R&D) results, a combination of electronic and non-electronic information assets representing a $400 billion historic and ongoing investment in science and energy. He has over 20 years of management experience in the private and public sector, working in environments of rapid change and large-scale, visible projects. He has experience in leading and supporting inter-agency and intra-agency initiatives, including partnering with other DOE facilities to provide disaster recovery capabilities and overseeing OSTI's infrastructure modernization and consolidation activities.

Given has previously served for more than a decade as an OSTI Assistant Director for Information Systems and, later, Preservation and Technology, as well as serving as Chief Technology Officer. His work focused on collaborative technical project management in such cross-cutting areas as information/data preservation, cyber security, networking, cloud-adoption, centralized enterprise storage, and infrastructure management. He has held responsibility for all aspects of OSTI's security program, including a focus on cyber security and IT budget management.

He has a B.S. and M.S. in Engineering Science, both from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
