Office of Science is the Nation’s largest Federal sponsor of basic research in the physical sciences and the lead Federal agency supporting fundamental scientific research for our Nation’s clean energy future. We support over 28,000 researchers across over 300 academic institutions and the DOE National Laboratories; we build and operate a suite of 28 scientific user facilities that collectively advance the research of over 36,000 users annually; and we are responsible for the stewardship of 10 of the 17 DOE National Laboratories.
